Learning and development

Career development

We will foster your career with a comprehensive programme of learning, designed to develop both your technical legal knowledge and your broader professional skills.

Your first two weeks will be spent on an induction training course, which includes financial and business skills, client care and an introduction to our systems and processes.

As you undertake each of your four seats, you will receive specific technical training related to the relevant practice area. The training will support your practical experience and accelerate your professional development.

We also offer language training and personal development training to help you become a well-rounded, commercial lawyer, able to meet the highest standards expected by our clients.

Post qualification

The training you receive as a trainee is only the beginning of your learning and development with us. We provide a suite of programmes designed to help you enhance your legal and business skills over the course of your career.

You will attend our International Academies, single and multi-day skills programmes designed specifically for our associates. These academies address topics such as business development, team working and project management - skills necessary to be a top-class lawyer and business person.

Associates from different offices attend the academies together, allowing you to develop relationships with colleagues from various locations and practice areas.

We also deliver shorter skills sessions on topics such as being an outstanding presenter, persuading and influencing for success and managing upwards. The sessions are designed to augment the International Academies.

Legal departments provide regular training for lawyers at all levels. Sessions range from Banking and Corporate foundation programmes to ongoing updates on legal developments across our practice areas.
