Sustainability is at the core of our corporate responsibility strategy; helping to shape the future in a way that provides economic, ecological and social benefits for all. We have a wide range of commitments in this area, all of which have been chosen to reinforce our core business principles of quality, unity and integrity. Find out more about our corporate responsibility strategy on our main website.
Everyone in Norton Rose is encouraged to use their legal knowledge and other professional skills to promote social inclusion; benefiting those who are disadvantaged, or under-privileged or lack access to the advice that we can offer. We are involved in a number of projects with the primary focus on our local community. Employees of Norton Rose can undertake voluntary work during office hours for up to 14 hours a year on these projects – and many give up significant amounts of their own time too.
We are committed to integrating environmental best practice into our decision-making and business activities worldwide. We also recognise that our environmental performance is important to our clients, our people and other stakeholders. Our key impacts arise from waste generation, energy use including travel, and resource consumption. We are seeking to minimise these impacts through continual improvement in our environmental performance.
Our Charity Committee in Hong Kong organises regular charity and fundraising events. Several charities have benefited, including the Hong Kong Cancer Fund and the Hong Kong Red Cross in support of Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief.
We also take part in voluntary work, such as providing reading sessions for primary school students in conjunction with the Bring Me a Book Hong Kong charity. The Norton Rose Charitable Foundation also made a donation that enabled the charity to build a Book Bag Library at a community centre serving low income families.
We are not only committed to our work but also to our society. As a trainee, you will find lots to become involved in.
